Icom IP100H WIFI Two Way Radio

The Icom IP100H is a handheld two way radio that opperates using your WiFi network. This solution allows for you to make use of your local LAN in order to implement a communications system that can scale even the largest of buildings. Due to an Icom WiFi system operating using your own network you do not require an Ofcom license.

In order to use the IP100H radio in your business you will require the IP1000C system controller and a number of AP90M LAN access points, although the number of access points depends on the total area that you wish to cover. If you'd like to keep track of your IP100H radios from a central location you can also implement the IP100FS dispatch solution. This dispatch solution also allows for the tracking of your radios, showing you each IP100H and which LAN access point it is closest to.

Standing at a height of 95mm, width of 58mm and a depth of 26.3mm whilst weighing just 205 grams the IP100H is an extremely compact radio. Although small in stature the IP100H is extremely durable, an IPx7 rating ensures that the radio can be submersed in water for short periods of time. Alongside this IP rating the IP100H is also capable of operating in temperatures ranging from -10°C through to 60°C.

The IP100H has a multitude of calling capabilities that ensure your team can communicate efficiently. Depending on your requirements you can use your IP100H in simplex or full-duplex mode. Full-duplex communications allow for your workers to communicate seamlessly as though they were having a phone call, not having to wait until the other person has finished transmitting before they begin to speak.

The IP100H has many great features that can be of benefit to your workforce. Should you work in a loud work environment, a vibrate function will notify the user should their be an incoming call to ensure that it is heard. In terms of safety features there is timed emergency, this monitors the activity levels of each radio, should a radio be innactice for a pre-set period of time an alarm will be sent to notify others of a potential issues. The IP100H is also VOX Capable when used with compatible accessories.

Features Explained

Voice Activation (VOX)

VOX (voice-operated exchange), more commonly known as Voice Activation, allows the two way radio's microphone and PTT button to be activated by simply speaking into the radio.

How To Use VOX

Most two way radios' voice activation feature only works via an external VOX capable earpiece or headset. Once connected, you simply start speaking and the two way radio will automatically initiate the transmission. When there is no longer any audio coming via your earpiece or headset, the two way radio automatically disengages the PTT.

Activating VOX

Most business grade licence exempt two way radios allow activating the voice activation feature via a button combination on the radio; or by simply plugging in a vox capable earpiece or headset. However, some more complex two way radios, such as our licensed two way radios will require some reprogramming.

VOX Drawbacks

Since VOX works by listening out for audio via the attached accessory, background noise that's near to the sound of a human voice will also activate it. That means practically anything can activate the voice activation.

Voice Activated Two Way Radios

Read more about Voice Activation (VOX) in our Knowledge Base.

Voice Activation (VOX) is built-in to the Icom IP100H, but a VOX-enabled audio accessory, such as an earpiece or headset, may be required.

Indoor Tracking

There are several methods of indoor tracking. By far the most widely used solutions are RFiD (or Radio-frequency Identification) beacons and Bluetooth beacons. Whichever solution a manufacturer have selected, either is very cost effective to implement. To make this work successfully, a dispatching computer and a repeater is required. Both solutions work in the same way in practical terms. The radio acknowledges when it is in range of a beacon and transmits that information back to base dispatching computer . The base dispatching computer knows the location of that beacon and therefore knowns where the radio is. This is particularly useful for tracking patrols and lone workers.

Indoor Tracking Video

This is generally only used for indoor tracking. For outdoor tracking, see GPS.

The IP100FS is required for location tracking of your IP100H radios.
